How to make coriander seeds chutney

As the name suggests, the main flavor of this chutney is coriander. We don’t use coriander leaves or cilantro for that. We use coriander seeds. It gives the unique, nutty flavor for this dip. Along with coriander seeds,we need onion, tomato, dry chili. We add a piece jaggery and tamarind to give a tangy and sweet taste to it.You can see another variety of coriander chutney here.

This time I received a beautiful Bread box with a wooden lid. That wooden lid can also be used as chop board and I loved how sleek and lovely the bread box is. 1. Loved this chutney recipe. Making idli tonight and can’t wait to try it. Thank you Lathiya.

  2. I had no idea you could make a chutney using coriander seeds as main ingredient! Must be deliciously aromatic!

    1. It is Monika and also loved the nutty flavor from seeds…Do give this a try..Thank you

  3. I think this would be perfect with naan bread or biryani, too. What do you think? 😀 I am not very familiar with chutney but when I had one before, I paired it with naan and biryani. Hahaha! This looks really good, Lathi. Thanks a bunch for sharing at Fiesta Friday party!

    1. Hahaha…I haven’t tried with Naan or biriyani, usually Chutneys go well with Idli ( steamed rice cakes) or dosa ( Indian Crepes). Do give this a try. Let me know if you need recipe for Idli or dosa. Thank you

  4. Liked the simple chutney recipe.. all the ingredients are basic and always available in our kitchens.

  5. Adding a bit more of one spice can dramatically change the overall taste of any food. Adding coriander seeds to the chutney must have added an earthy taste. Chutney looks so inviting.
