Pazham Pori / Banana Fritters is a famous tea time snack of Kerala- a south Indian state. You can find this in every tea shop. Now you can make it at home without the concern of the oil they use.
Pazham Pori / Banana fritters
Pazham Pori is usually made using ‘ Nenthran Pazham’ or ‘ Etha pazham’. A variety of banana you get plenty in Kerala. It is so firm even when ripe. It have lots of health benefits that it is usually give to toddlers by just steaming or sauteed with ghee. When it is raw, banana chips are made out it which is another delicacy from Kerala.
But here in US I don’t often find this often. Only rarely I get ‘ Nendran Pazham’ from Indian stores. At that time I never miss to make this Pazham Pori. But actually I miss Nendran Pazham and making this snack often.
How to make Pazham Pori
The banana for making this should be neither over ripe or raw. If it’s over ripe you can’t cut it into thin pieces and if it’s raw it wouldn’t taste good. The batter for this fritters are usually use Maida/All purpose flour. But here I used whole wheat flour, little bit of rice flour , sugar and a pinch of salt. The batter should of pancake batter consistency. Dipping the banana strips into the batter and deep fry. Yummy Pazham pori ready to indulge with hot cup of tea. If it was raining then it’s perfect.
