Aloo/Potato & Onion Bhaji /Fritters

  • 1 cup Organic besan/Chickpea flour
  • 1 tsp rice flour
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp Red Chili powder
  • Asafoetida a generous pinch
  • Salt as Required
  • Water as required
  • 1 Potato Medium sized
  • 1/2 cup Onion thinly sliced
  • Oil to deep fry


  • Peel the skin of potato and slice it in thin rounds.Keep aside.
  • Make a thick batter with all ingredients except oil,potato & onion.No lumps should be there.
  • Heat oil in a deep fry pan.

For potato bhaji

  • Dip each slice of potato in the batter and deep fry in the oil.
  • Cook till both sides are cooked & golden in color.Cook in medium flame.
  • Serve warm.

For Onion bhaji

  • Add the sliced onions in the batter.
  • Add it in hot oil as clusters spreading vaguely.
  • Cook in medium flame till golden color.
  • Serve warm.
