Pazham Pori/ Banana Fritters

Pazham Pori / Banana Fritters is a famous tea time snack of Kerala- a south Indian state. You can find this in every tea shop.

  • 1 No Nendran Pazham/Plantain riped
  • 1/2 Cup Whole wheat flour
  • 1 Tbsn Rice flour
  • 3 Tbsn Organic Sugar
  • Salt a Pinch
  • Water As required
  • Oil To deep fry


  • Mix all ingredients except plantain and oil to a batter. It should be of pancake batter consistency.
  • Peel the plantain, cut into half or three pieces depending the size of the plantain.
  • Slice into thin strips in lengthwise. Each piece should yield at least four strips.
  • Heat oil in a pan. When the oil is hot enough ( not smoking hot) let the burner be in medium.
  • Dip each plantain strips in batter and deep fry till golden.
  • Drain it in paper towel.
    Serve warm with a cup of tea.


  1. Choose plantain that is not too riped or raw.
  2. Adjust sugar depending on the sweetness of plantain.
