Soak 4 or 5 badam pisin crystals (if using) in 3 to 4 tablespoons of water overnight to make a little less than ¼ cup jelly-like substance.
Soak basil seeds in 2 tablespoons of water for 10 minutes.
Take the chopped watermelon in a bowl. Add sugar, boiled and chilled milk, soaked badam pisin, and basil seeds. Give a nice stir. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
If you want to serve immediately, you can add ice cubes. Best served chilled.
Notes
I did not deseed it, but you can deseed it if you prefer.
I felt that adding ice cubes diluted the flavor of the watermelon. But it depends on your preference.
Few recipes use rose syrup along with milk, but I didn’t use it as I need the original flavor of the watermelon.
You can use sugar depending on the sweetness of the watermelon or the sweetness you prefer. You can also avoid using sugar if all you want is natural sweetness.
To make this recipe more fun, you can add chopped pieces of coconut water jelly or watermelon jelly.
