Today we are going to talk about our Easy Refreshing Peach Lime Granita. When we don’t have time to churn out Ice cream or wait till Ice cream sets, still you can enjoy making granita. Granitas usually gets ready in 2 hours minimum.

What is Granita

Granita is seemed to be an Italian dessert. I have always confused between Granita, Sorbet, and Slush. When I read about it, Granita is made using just hands while others use machines. (still, I used a food processor for making fruit puree, does it count?)Another trick I read was, use a steel baking dish to make it than a glass dish. This helps in getting perfect texture. I lost the link where I read these details. I tried finding it but couldn’t. The texture of it should be crystal. The important point to keep in mind is to scrape it between 30 minutes.

Fresh Peach Granita

My husband recently bought a box of peaches from Costco. It’s actually a lot for us to finish it off within a few days. For a few days, it was outside the refrigerator. Seeing it’s getting shrunk I pitied it and kept it in the refrigerator. It was staying there for a few more days. Whenever I open the refrigerator it gives me a humble look to use it up. I also made this peach mocktail.

But to use those lot of peaches, I chose to make granita. I was thinking why I didn’t make it before. It tasted more refreshing for the burning heat here.

How to make Peach Granita

Making granita is not a big deal. Just blend fruit along with sugar and water to make a puree. Freeze. That’s it. You can add any fruit puree. Adding water makes the crystals. See, how easy it is.

INGREDIENTS

Peaches – 2 cups

Lime juice – Juice of half lime ( see notes)

Sugar – 1/4 cup

Water – 1/4 – 1/2 cup

METHOD

  • Wash and cut peaches into chunks.
  • Take all ingredients in a food processor and blend completely.
  • Strain it in a baking dish.
  • Freeze for 30 minutes. Scrape it with a fork.
  • Again freeze and repeat the scraping every 30 minutes for at least 2 hours.
  • Serve.

NOTES

  1. I felt the lime juice added is a bit little quantity. It did boost the taste. Still, if you want more punch add juice of one whole lime.
  2. Adjust sugar as per your needs.
