In this post, I give the version I like to make for my family.

How to make Indian spiced buttermilk
Ingredients used

Method
I have used gooseberries, ginger, cumin powder, curry leaves, and black salt along with homemade curd or yogurt. We take all the ingredients in a blender and blend it till smooth. Add a cup of water and strain it in a bowl. Add one more cup of water to dilute. Adjust the salt as per your preference. Serve chilled.
Black salt is optional. If you do not have black salt, then just use table salt. If using black salt, then just use a pinch, not more than that for the given measurement. (I have used both black salt and normal table salt)
| Note: Straining the buttermilk is optional but we like it that way in our family. |

| Variations you can try 1. You can add chopped green chilies after straining the buttermilk and set aside to chill in the refrigerator before serving. 2. You can also add a few mint leaves and cilantro while blending the yogurt. 3. Instead of gooseberries, you can add cucumber to make cucumber buttermilk. |
