The recipe we see today is Tomato Soup which needs just 3 ingredients. Yes, you read it right. You need just 3 ingredients apart from the seasoning you require.

Tomato Soup

Tomato soup is one of the most popular and common things you get in a restaurant. But it’s difficult to make a good Tomato soup. I’m not a very ‘Soupy” person but still, I love tomato soup occasionally. As the weather is getting colder day by day here, a good, warm soup can warm you.

Be it for cold days or for the Thanksgiving feast around the corner this tomato soup can definitely lift your soul and feast.

How to make Tomato Soup

As I said I’m not a very ‘soup’ person, still decided to make soup for our FB group Healthy Wellthy Cuisine this time theme is soup. I was looking for good soup and stumbled upon this recipe. Instantly I wanted to try it. The original recipe had used canned tomatoes. But I blanched and skinned my tomato for this soup. It tasted great.

Blanched Tomato

Ingredients used

The ingredients you need are Blanched tomatoes or canned tomatoes, onions, and butter. Cook all three ingredients in medium flame and blend using a blender or Immersion blender. The texture of this soup is not smooth but thick and coarse. You can, however, blend it to smooth if you like that way. Season the soup with salt and pepper. I served along with Homemade Garlic Bread Sticks. I bet it was awesome.

INGREDIENTS

Tomato – 1

Onion – 2 tbsp chopped

Butter – 1 tsp

Salt & Pepper – for seasoning

METHOD

Blanching

  • Make a slit at the bottom of the tomato. Add it to boiling water and let it boil till its skin shrinks. (This is called blanching)
  • When the tomato’s skin shrinks, switch off. Remove the tomato from the boiling water and add it to cold water. This makes it easy to remove the skin.
  • After removing the skin, chop the tomato into small pieces. Keep aside.

Making Soup

  • Take butter, chopped onions, and tomato in a pot along with a little water.
  • Let it cook on a medium flame till it thickens and the raw smell of onions goes.
  • Once it thickens, remove it from the flame.
  • Blend it using an immersion blender or blender.
  • Add water according to the consistency of the soup you need.
  • Season with salt & pepper as per your requirements.

I tried this three-ingredient tomato soup and loved how clean and rich the flavor turned out. You can make it in minutes with just a few basics and a little seasoning.
