In this post, I give you both the stovetop and Instant Pot method for making an easy, yet best chicken soup recipe.

How to make chicken soup in an Instant Pot
Ingredients

Instant Pot method
Switch on the Instant Pot and press the saute button. When the pot is hot, add butter. Once the butter melts, add the whole spices, and then add chicken. Saute the turmeric-coated chicken pieces in butter for a minute. Add ginger, garlic, cilantro, onions, and carrots to the chicken. Then add 2 cups of water. Close the lid and press the cancel button. Then press the manual button and set the timer for 10 minutes. Once it is done, let the pressure release naturally. Serve the soup warm with required salt and pepper.

Stovetop method
In the stovetop method, we are following the same steps as above but in a pressure cooker. After closing the lid of the pressure cooker, cook until 5 whistles. Switch off the flame, and let the pressure settle. Then open the lid and serve the soup warm.

Ingredients
Chicken pieces – 6 to 8 (preferably with bone) or 150 grams
Onions – ¼ cup chopped
Carrot – 1 medium chopped
Ginger – 1 tbsp finely chopped
Garlic – 2 pods chopped
Cilantro – few
Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
Unsalted Butter – 1 tbsp
Bay leaf – 1
Black pepper – 3
Cloves – 2
Water – 2 cups
Salt – as required
Ground pepper – as required
Method
Instant Pot
- Coat the chicken pieces with turmeric powder and keep aside.
- Switch on the Instant Pot and press the saute button.
- When the pot is hot, add butter. Once the butter melts, add the whole spices, and then add chicken.
- Saute the turmeric-coated chicken pieces in butter for a minute.
- Add ginger, garlic, onions, and carrots to the chicken.
- Then add 2 cups of water. Close the lid and press the cancel button.
- Then press the manual button and set the timer for 10 minutes.
- Once it is done, let the pressure release naturally. Open the lid and add chopped cilantro.
- Serve the soup warm with required salt and pepper.

- Heat the pressure cooker on a stovetop and add butter.
- Once the butter melts, add the whole spices, and then add chicken.
- Saute the turmeric-coated chicken pieces in butter for a minute.
- Add ginger, garlic, onions, and carrots to the chicken.
- Then add 2 cups of water.
- Close the pressure cooker lid and place the weight.
- Cook until 5 whistles. Once the pressure is done, open the lid. Add cilantro.
- Serve the soup warm with required salt and pepper.

Notes
- You can use oil or ghee instead of butter.
- Please feel free to add cabbage, broccoli, corn, or beans along with chicken.
