Andhra Chicken Curry – For Recipe Swap
This is my first time participating in a FB Recipe Swap Group. I was to swap with Payal. She is an awesome blogger, who blogs at Dont give a fork. She had amazing recipes there but I eyed on this Spicy Andhra Chicken Curry from the time I visited her blog. Do visit her blog to drool over and to try some drool-worthy recipes.
Andhra Chicken Curry, as the name suggests is from Andhra Pradesh. It is a South Indian state famous for its spicy food. They include peanuts in most of their dishes. This curry too has peanuts. The awesome taste comes from the freshly ground peanuts and chili masala along with sesame seeds and poppy seeds. I was doubtful if my husband would like this curry as he doesn’t like peanuts in a curry. But to my surprise he loved it and even my daughter licked the bowl off.
How to make Andhra Chicken Curry
The main masala of this curry is made from Dry red chilies, roasted peanuts, roasted sesame seeds, and poppy seeds. It thickens the curry and gives a unique flavor to the dish. This is my first time trying chicken with peanuts but I’m not disappointed. Once the masala is ready the curry is made easy. The chicken is slow-cooked in the masala till cooked for the desired consistency.
I followed the original recipe with some changes. I reduced the number of Dry red chilies as I serve this for my kids. In the original recipe, she used coconut milk (which I wish to use) but I used whole milk as I didn’t have Coconut milk with me. Other than that I followed the exact recipe and it turned out awesome. I served this with Ghee rice. You can serve this with Carrot Chapathi, Pulao. It also tastes great with Puttu.
