Do you have picky eater kids? I hope everyone does. So what do you do to make them eat their veggies? I sneak them in such roti or chapati so they eat without any complaint. This carrot chapati is a result of such innovation. Hope you try this.

Carrot Chapati

As I told you, I have two kids who are picky eaters and somehow I need to feed the veggies. So I just cooked the veggies, mashed them, and mixed them along with the chapati dough. They love chapati, so they eat it without any complaints. Happy me and happy they. The lovely thing about adding vegetables to the dough is it gives a beautiful color to the chapati which excites the kids when they eat.

How to make

Ingredients Used

Whole Wheat Flour – This is a whole wheat chapati and we need whole wheat flour. You can also mix ¼ cup of Ragi flour, Chickpea flour, or cornflour along with wheat flour.

Carrot – As we are making carrot chapati, we need carrots.

Potato – We also need one potato as adding only mashed carrots makes chapati hard. So we add one boiled and mashed potato.

Method

Pressure cook or microwave peeled potato and carrot till cooked well. Mash it smooth and keep it aside. In a wide bowl, take whole wheat flour, mashed potatoes, carrots, and the required salt. Mix thoroughly to give a crumbly texture. Add water little by little and knead to a soft dough. I used my food processor to make the dough which made the process a breeze. Cover and let it rest for at least 30 minutes. Divide the dough into small balls. Roll it out to thin roti using a rolling pin. Heat Tawa. Smear butter or oil. Cook roti on both sides till brown spots appear. Serve with Potato carrot masala or Aloo gobi curry.
