Jamun/ Black Plum Popsicle
Black Plums or jamun or java plums, a native of India are loaded with health benefits. It has a sweet, tarty flavor which is not enjoyed by everyone. But I love it when dipped in red chili powder and salt mixture. The jamun leaves a purple color on your tongue when you consume it and it fantasizes us as a kid.
Recently I made black plum popsicles as an attempt to make my kids eat black plums in any format. Though my kids didn’t like the jamun as a fruit to consume, they were excited to have it as popsicles. And surprisingly they even loved the not-so-sweet version of my black plum popsicle.

How to make Black Plum Popsicle

Method
The process starts with deseeding the black plums. Then take the jamun along with other ingredients and blend it with a little water. Now pour this in the popsicle molds and freeze till set. Enjoy it with your kids and friends.

The interesting thing about this recipe is that you can customize the flavors as you like. You can add or reduce the quantity of the spices as you prefer. I like to use soda next time instead of water to make this popsicle. If you try this, let me know how it turned out.

Ingredients
Black Plum – ¼ cup
Red chili powder – ⅛ teaspoon
Chaat Masala – ¼ teaspoon
Lemon juice – 2 teaspoons
Sugar – 1 Tablespoon
Water – ¼ cup
Salt – a pinch
Method
- Wash the black plum and remove the seeds.
- Take all the ingredients in a blender and blend them till smooth.
- Pour this into molds and freeze for 4 hours or until it sets.
- Enjoy the delicious and health-loaded black plum popsicles.

- You can customize the spices or flavor of this popsicle.
- You can increase or reduce the red chili powder as per your preference.
- If you don’t have chaat masala, swap it with roasted cumin seed powder.
