These Rava Ladoo/Semolina Ladoo is a popular Indian sweet made on special occasions.
Rava Ladoo-An Indian Dessert
Rava /Semolina Ladoo is a famous Indian dessert made on festival times. You need only a few ingredients to make this exotic and yummy dessert. There is no fancy ingredient, just fine Rava, milk, sugar, and ghee. That’s it. Little stirring and done. One of the most famous ladoo is ready to devour.
As Ganesh chathurthi is around the corner, make these ladoos to treat your guests, kids, and obviously don’t forget yourself. You need less than 30 minutes to make this.
How to make Rava Ladoo
Making this ladoo starts with roasting fine rava/semolina in ghee till a nice aroma rises. Then add sugar and stirring. Adding warm milk little by little till you can make ladoos. You can add cashews and raisins for additional crunch.
I used only 2 tsp of ghee for making this ladoo, if you like you can add 1 tsp more. Sugar added is perfect for us. But if you like more sweet, add 1 or 2 tbsp more. Don’t add more than that, it will make it more sweet.

Rava ladoo recipe
INGREDIENTS
Fine Rava/Semolina – 1 cup
Raw Organic Sugar – 1/2 cup (see notes)
Warm Milk – 1/4 cup approximately
Ghee /Clarified butter – 2 tsp
Cashews and Raisins – as required
METHOD
- Heat 1 tsp of ghee/ clarified butter in a wide heavy-bottomed pan.
- Roast cashews and raisins till golden. Remove it on a plate.
- In the same pan add another 1 tsp of ghee.
- Add fine rava/semolina and roast continuously in medium flame till aroma arises.
- When it starts turning golden, add sugar and stir.
- Stir continuously.
- The sugar melts and starts to stick in the bottom of the pan.
- Stir thoroughly and add roasted cashews and raisins.
- Remove this mixture to a plate.
- When the heat is manageable, add warm milk little by little and start making balls.
- Serve immediately.
- It stays good for two days in the refrigerator when stored in an airtight container.
NOTES
- While roasting Rava/semolina you have to stir continuously. If not it will burn easily.
- As my sugar granules were big, I powdered them. If you are adding fine granules of white sugar, you can add them directly.
- Add milk little by little, and try forming ladoos. When you are able to make balls stop adding milk. For the above-mentioned quantity, you will need approximately 1/4 cup milk.
