Goat Soup/ Mutton Soup

This soup has a few basic ingredients but it’s full of flavor. This soup boosts when you feel low or sick or enjoy cold weather. You can connect the flavor of this soup with Indian as we use Turmeric powder and cumin powder. In India, we refer to goat meat as Mutton. Here it was new to me when we say goat and lamb separately. This recipe works great if you use goat or lamb.

Method

We are making this soup in Instant pot. I have also tried on a stovetop pressure cooker. Both ways it works great.

Switch on the Instant pot. Press the saute button. Add butter or oil. When the butter melts, add chopped ginger and garlic. Saute for few seconds till a nice aroma arises. Add the goat pieces with bone. Saute for a minute and add water. Close the lid. Press the cancel button and then press the manual button. Set the cook time to 20 minutes. Once done, let the pressure release naturally. Open the lid and add chopped cilantro. Serve the soup warm with salt and pepper.

Goat soup is recommended in spring season (15th of March – 15th of May).
Overall goat meat is the best meat to choose whole year around.
Although you tell to replace goat by lamb, people have to know that those meat has not the same qualities and do different things to your health.
In spring season it is best to eat vegetarian or vegan, but if you still want to eat meat choose goat, chicken, turkey or rabbit.
In summer season it is best to eat fish, but chicken and goat are also good. For people who live in areas with monsoon fish is contraindicated.
In autumn it is best to eat deer or rabbit. Absolutely no fish in autumn.
In winter it is the best season to consume meat and fish. But meat is better than fish. Choose from chicken, deer, goat, pig, rabbit, turkey or make a seafood soup.
Whenever consuming meat do it sparingly and do not overeat on it. Remember we need to focus on homemade foods with the best ingredients that we can find. It needs to be organic, locally, fresh and grown with love for others and not with profit in mind. That is why your mother’s food will always taste the best as that is made with love.
If you can grow your own food, it is the best option as you know exactly how it is grown.
Remember to say a mantra as you never know if the food you bought has gone through hands with love in mind or profit in mind.
It is also important that the cook is happy, while cooking.
And last of all, make sure you don’t eat if you are not happy.
    Much love to you.

We call goat Mutton back in India. So yes, it tastes the same. You can also try the same with lamb too if you can’t get a goat. Thank you

I love how easy the Instant Pot makes recipes like this. While I personally don’t eat meat, my husband does and I find myself looking for new recipes to make for him when he’s having a craving. This is so simple and would make enough to cover his lunches for a while too. I’m going to have to try it out and find out what he thinks!

This goat soup looks so nourishing and simple to make, and it’s so great it uses the bones. I see in other comments that lamb is ok to use, and that’s what I can find near me. Yum!
