Mohabbat ka Sharbat/Watermelon milk might initially sound unusual, but trust me, this refreshing fusion is the ultimate thirst-quencher. This cool, creamy, and subtly sweet milk blended with the juicy freshness of ripe watermelon makes it a dreamy refreshment for hot days. You can also serve this along with brunch spreads or when you need something a little extra special. Simple, pretty, and surprisingly addictive—this is summer’s new obsession.

Mohabbat ka Sharbat
Mohabbat ka Sharbat is a popular Indian summer drink, often shared with loved ones during warm, lazy afternoons. Every household has its own recipe for this refreshing watermelon-based delight; this recipe is my way of making Mohabbat ka Sharbat. The best part? It’s made with simple, everyday ingredients—no fancy stuff here. Plus, it’s incredibly easy to customize based on your taste and what you have on hand.

How to make watermelon milk/mohabbat ka sharbat
Ingredients
For detailed ingredients, check the recipe card.

Method
Soak badam pisin/almond gum (if using) overnight. It will turn into a jelly-like substance. Soak basil seeds for 10 minutes. Chop watermelon roughly into small pieces. I did not deseed it, but you can deseed it if you prefer.

Take the chopped watermelon in a bowl. Add sugar, boiled and chilled milk, soaked badam pisin, and basil seeds. Give a nice stir. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving. If you want to serve immediately, you can add ice cubes. Best served chilled.

| * I felt that adding ice cubes diluted the flavor of the watermelon. But it depends on your preference. * Few recipes use rose syrup along with milk, but I didn’t use it as I need the original flavor of the watermelon. *To make this recipe more fun, you can add chopped pieces of coconut water jelly or watermelon jelly. |
What is badam pisin, and its health benefits
Badam pisin, also known as almond gum, is an edible gum derived from the bark of an almond tree. It looks like crystals, and you need just 4 or 5 crystals soaked in 3 to 4 tablespoons of water to make a little less than ¼ cup jelly-like substance. It doesn’t have any distinct taste. You can consume mixing it in your milk, smoothies, or plain water.

Badam pisin is known for its cooling effects. It also aids in digestion, improves bone health, and helps in hair and skin nourishment. Taking a limited dose of badam pisin daily helps in weight management too. You can get almond gum online or in Indian stores.
Frequently asked questions
You can use almond milk or coconut milk instead of whole milk.
You can skip it, and it will not alter the flavor of the recipe.
Yes, you can add stevia or avoid any sugar form if you like the natural sugars of the fruit.
Watermelon milk stays good refrigerated for 2 days (it will not last that long, though). More than that, I did not like the taste of it.
