Palak chapathi or palak paratha is just a simple whole wheat spinach tortilla. This is an easy way to include greens in the kid’s diet. The paratha has a nice, deep green color that not only enhances the taste but also healthy.

Palak Chapathi

My kids love paratha. So I started to try various stuffings or add puree in the dough to make paratha, that way they have their veggie portions taken daily. The color of the paratha will vary as per the puree you add and that interests kids.

You can serve this paratha with potato carrot masala, Aloo gobi curry, or Chettinad Chicken curry.

How to make Palak chapathi

Ingredients Used

Whole Wheat flour – I have used whole wheat flour to make this paratha.

Spinach – Use a fresh bunch of spinach.

Sugar – We use a pinch of sugar to keep the bright green color of the spinach while wilting it in water.

Method

Blanche spinach with a pinch of sugar. ( Add spinach leaves in boiling water for two minutes) Strain it, let it cool completely, and grind it into a smooth paste. Take whole wheat flour in a bowl along with salt and ground spinach paste. Mix thoroughly, add water if necessary. Let it rest for 30 minutes.

Divide it into small balls. Roll it thinly. Heat tawa, and smear oil. Cook rolled roti on both sides till brown spots appear. Serve warm with your choice of gravy.
