Onion Tomato Chutney

As I said, we South Indians have a variety of chutneys region-specific and in common. Usually, chutneys are had along with Idli, Dosa, Uthappam and more. This Onion tomato chutney is popular among them and served in restaurants. Making it at home is not a big task as I give the recipe here. This chutney has a tangy taste from the tomato. Some people add a small quantity of tamarind but I haven’t. Try this and it will be in your favorite I bet.

How to make Onion Tomato chutney?

The ingredients are basic. Onion, tomato, chana dal, dry red chili, coconut, ginger. Try to use coconut oil for great taste but that’s not mandatory. You can use any vegetable oil. Saute all the ingredients one by one. Once it cools down, blend it in the blender to smooth along with required water. Take a pan to add oil, mustard seeds, and curry leaves. Once the mustard seeds splutter, pour the tempering in the chutney. Serve along with Idli, Dosa or Uthappam.
