Beetroot Jelly? Does it sound weird? Trust me it tastes so good if you love beetroot. Even if you don’t, try this. You want to give your kid a healthy choice of eating their favorite snack, then try this, even no gelatin. You will never get store-bought jelly again.
So here we go with the recipe. Hope you will try this.
What is Agar – Agar?
Agar-Agar is a vegetarian substitute for Gelatin. So those who are vegan or vegetarian and do not use gelatin can use agar-agar instead. It can be used as a thickener for soups, ice cream or fruit preservatives.

Don’t you love that color???

Recipe to make Beetroot Jelly
Ingredients
Beetroot Juice – 1/2 cup ( see notes)
Sugar – 1 tbsp
Agar-Agar – 3/4 tsp
Method
- Take all ingredients in a pan. Heat it thoroughly till the agar-agar and sugar are completely dissolved.
- Have to keep stirring constantly.
- When it’s completely dissolved, remove it from the heat and pour it into your molds or a bowl. (I did it in my mini muffin pan)
- When it comes to room temperature, keep it in the fridge till it sets.
- You can just scoop it from your molds.
- Serve chilled.

Notes
- For Beetroot Juice, I microwaved peeled beetroot chunks till soft. Blend it with a little water in a blender and strain it.
- You can avoid sugar if you want. Beetroot itself has some sweetness.
