Raw Mango Rice is a typical South Indian rice dish. From the name you could guess that the main ingredient in this is raw mango.
Mangoes are the national fruit of India. There are varied varieties of mangoes and similarly varied different recipes all over India. Each region of India has its own special dish with Mango. Mangoes have a unique flavor that is tangy when raw and sweet when ripe. So in some dishes that use tangy flavor, they add raw mango instead of tamarind. Some even use raw mangoes in fish curry. We have Instant Pickle using raw mango in this space.

Raw mango rice is delicious and a great lunch box idea, I have tried it, and my kids asked me to make it again.
That’s so sweet of them. Thank you for trying.
I never heard of mango rice, but anything savory with fruit has me intrigued. So of course I had to try it and it was so good! I love how the spices played with the fruity mango flavor (though I left out the chili, because it’s too hot for me). It also came together incredibly quickly. I think next time I’ll top it with some shrimps, but it’s just lovely on its own.
Adding shrimps sounds great. Thank you for trying. I’m glad you loved the recipe.
I tried this Raw Mango Rice, and it was such a flavorful and refreshing dish! The tangy kick from the raw mango paired perfectly with the rice, making it a delicious and easy meal. Perfect for lunchboxes or a quick, satisfying meal!
Thank you so much
