Gelatin-free Watermelon Jelly—a perfect treat for your kids this summer. This recipe calls for basic two ingredients and no special equipment needed. The hard part is the waiting time for the jelly to set. Once it is done just pop it in your mouth and enjoy the jellicious (is it even a word..lol) watermelon.

Watermelon Jelly

I love watermelon. I just love it so much, when I thought about what fun recipe I could make with it, this jelly idea came upon. When you love jelly and don’t want store-bought jellies filled with preservatives and artificial color, I recommend you try this gelatin-free watermelon jelly. These are kids’ favorites, aside from coconut water jelly, mango jelly, and beetroot jelly.

How to make watermelon jelly

Ingredients used

Method

Deseed the watermelon. Blend watermelon cubes to puree. Add sugar if you think watermelon is less sweet. In a bowl, add water and agar agar strands. On the stovetop, stir this syrup till agar agar dissolves. Once it has dissolved, add the puree, mix well, and turn off the flame. Pour the mixture into a baking tray or mold. You can strain the mixture while pouring into the molds if you prefer, but I did not. Keep it in the refrigerator for at least six hours or till set. Cut into small pieces and serve.

What is agar-agar

Agar-Agar, a type of seaweed, is a vegetarian substitute for gelatin. So those who are vegan or vegetarian and do not use gelatin can use agar-agar instead. You can get agar-agar as strands, granules, bars, and flakes. It is also known as China grass. It is widely used as a thickener for soups, ice cream, desserts, or fruit preservatives.

      1. Thank you so much Kelly ?..But I wonder how you managed growing three boys…I struggle with one?… Sometimes I worry am I making wrong?… Don’t I know how to raise kids..

      2. Don’t doubt yourself. We all wonder once in a while if we make the right decisions. Just teach them your values, morals…and give them lots of love! Help guide them when they are young, so they can be responsible adults…I don’t know..I just had so much fun with them. I think I am part tomboy. I loved coaching their soccer teams and being involved with their activities in some way. Is there a perfect parent…NO! You are fine, and your children are happy!

      3. Thank you so much ?..These are a lot more encouraging words that I can hear☺?..This means a lot to me…I know they grow before we knew..and I just want to enjoy the present moment…But it’s nice to hear that someone is encouraging our efforts..?☺.. Thank you so much again ?

      4. Oh honey, your a wonderful mom! We are all intimidated a little bit in some way or another when we have children…kids don’t come with manuals.

      5. He is 3 ..He got lot of energy and very excited to see everything…I can understand that it’s normal for his age but for me , couldn’t come from him where ever we go…When we enter a shop he just go running around and it was little embarrassing for me to run behind him before everyone in the shop. He doesn’t care where he is. This year he is going preschool. We put him in karate along with his sister, but he run around and didn’t take masters words. So we stopped. Now I’m searching for some other activities to engage him , so he can use his energy there?

      6. Yes! I knew it!! The little girl came first. They are a lot easier than boys, most of the time. So when your little came along….Surprise!!! I put mine in TBall ..which in my area are open to 3 yr olds. Also there is soccer when he is 5. Just don’t expect him to keep focused to long at this age…they are easily distracted. I didn’t put mine in Karate till they were like 7…I think. What about T-Ball?? Do you have a YMCA? They have gymnastics for little ones..

      7. I never heard of T ball…I have to search for it…We do have YMCA…We have to look out for activities there.. Thank you so much for suggestions…I appreciate you took time to hear me?…That’s a great thing

      8. T-Ball is like baseball, but for tots. The ball is placed on a high ‘T’. The kids hit it with a bat…and run!! So cute to watch these little ones play. They run all over the place…fun, fun, fun to watch!!!
